Hi there👋🏼

I'm happy to share another week with you!☺️

This felt like one of those weeks where sourdough wasn’t just about bread — it was about momentum, conversations, and little moments clicking into place! I wanted to share a peek at what’s been happening, along with a small insight that was shared, whether you bake along with us or just enjoy hearing about bread!

Community Buzz

The Crumb Table has been lively this week! We’ve grown to 68 members, with people sharing wins, celebrating progress, and connecting in the community! The Monthly Baking Challenges got a fresh look in the classroom with checkable prompts, coffee hour topics were added to the calendar so everyone can see what’s coming up, and behind the scenes, the Foundation Series is being published lesson by lesson — almost done!🎉

💥Myth Busted!

In a post I made about sourdough myths we once believed — and there’s plenty — one was busted, and I want to share it with you!

You don’t have to discard your starter once it’s established!

What a relief, right? It’s little things like this that let me assure beginners, or anyone curious, that sourdough really isn’t as difficult as some make it seem! It can absolutely be manageable for you and your busy schedule!

🫧Discarding 101

Discarding is a tool, not a requirement! Early on, it helps manage balance and growth. When you’re building a starter from scratch, discard is necessary because the starter hasn’t yet built up the strength to keep unwanted bacteria at bay 💪🏼. But once your starter is stable and predictable, you can adjust! Keep it in the fridge, feed it as you need, and skip the daily discard if that fits your life!

🍞Sourdough doesn’t need obedience — it needs understanding!

Why This Matters

That’s a big part of what we focus on inside The Crumb Table: learning the why so sourdough feels calmer, more intuitive, and a lot less heavy!

If this little insight resonated, or you’re curious about how other bakers are learning and sharing in a low-pressure space, you’re always welcome to take a look! No expectations — just pull up a chair and see what feels useful!

Blessings!
